The Democratic Forum Online
The GVDC Democratic Forum (or whatever we will call it) has not yet
been implemented. It will be a moderated Forum discussing issues of concern
to local Democrats. If you are not a Los Angeles Free-Net member, you cannot
get to the Democratic Forum on the LAFN from this World Wide Web page.
To use the Democratic Forum, you must first join or be a member of the Los
Angeles Free-Net. This costs $15.00 per year, which is just about the cheapest
way to get access to an e-mail account. There are no hourly charges. (To
get graphical Internet access as well costs an additional $15.00/year.)
If you are reading this online, you already have Internet access through
your organization's Internet connection or through another online service
like CompuSeve or America Online which may have hourly charges.
The Los Angeles Free-Net is like a giant computer bulletin board. It has
many services including online access to a number of city governments, including
the City of Los Angeles. And it incorporates very good text-based Internet
software which you can use to access Internet sites worldwide. For instance,
you can directly access files from the California Democratic Council gopher
site. The CDC Forum has been a meeting place for California Democrats since
mid-1994. There is much information available over the Internet which will
allow you -- and your Democratic Club -- to stay up-to-date on every important
issue.
