The Gardena Valley Democratic Club along with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and, at its last meeting, the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee, have endorsed the boycott of the New Otani Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. A number of Club members have joined the picket line in support of the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union Local 11, which wants to unionize the hotel's employees so that they will get decent wages and health benefits. The United Auto & Aerospace Workers, in its most recent magazine -- which goes out to 1.3 million UAW members and retirees nationwide -- devoted a full page to supporting this strike.
